Geology and terrain
A storm-shaped supercontinent
Known land is concentrated on a vast supercontinent with broken coastlines, plateaus, deep valleys and exposed rock. The planet lacks active plate tectonics, but earthquakes and erosion still reshape it.
Climate and atmosphere
Hurricanes as a planetary clock
Powerful storms travel regularly from east to west. With almost no axial tilt, Roshar has no conventional seasons; temperature and rainfall change mainly with storms and latitude.
Biosphere
Shells, burrows and large-bodied life
High oxygen and low gravity support unusually large animals. Many organisms use shells, flexible roots or sheltering growth patterns to survive wind, abrasive rain and flooding.
Habitats
Sheltered valleys and storm-facing plains
Life concentrates in valleys, hollows and protected regions. Exposed plains are shaped by wind and sediment, while warm humid zones support denser vegetation.
Open questions
A climate system full of variables
The origin of the storm cycle, the limits of underground ecosystems and the full distribution of land beyond the main continent remain incompletely documented.
