Geology and terrain
One planet with two environmental faces
Taldain has a permanent day side, a permanent night side and a dangerous twilight ocean between them. A large circular landmass dominates the known day-side map.
Climate and atmosphere
Perpetual light, night and a violent border
The day side is hot and largely desert; the night side is colder but not glacial. The border ocean and its persistent storm form a hazardous transition zone.
Biosphere
Life below the surface
Extreme sunlight drives much of the day-side ecology underground or beneath sand. Lichen, crops and flowers are known on both sides, but the night side remains partly undocumented.
Habitats
Subsurface water and isolated landmasses
The most productive day-side habitats occur where groundwater lies near the surface. The full size and shape of the night-side landmass are uncertain.
Open questions
The dark hemisphere is a frontier
The geography of the night side, heat exchange across twilight and the stability of the tidal arrangement invite further study.
