Forests, mountains and divided continents
Threnody has forested regions, mountains, rivers and at least two major continents. The known landscapes are temperate, wooded and separated by difficult travel corridors.
Climate and atmosphere
A temperate climate with dangerous nights
The planet supports seasonal forests and ordinary rainfall, but night radically changes environmental risk. Darkness, blood and isolation make familiar terrain hazardous.
Biosphere
A forest ecosystem with strict survival rules
Deer, rodents, rabbits, birds, turkeys and domestic livestock are known. Large predators are rare or absent in many regions.
Habitats
Fortified clearings and forest margins
People live in fortress settlements, farmed clearings and protected waystops. The safest habitats control visibility, blood loss and access to homes.
Open questions
Where does the forest's danger begin?
Night-active phenomena, the condition of the larger continent and long-term effects on wildlife populations remain poorly documented.
